The blotch mine is more strongly contorted , situated along the leaf margin and it is preceded by a relatively long, easily distinguishabe epidermal tunnel (Kirichenko et al. 2019: 18). The record of Betula platyphylla Sukatchev [Betulaceae] from Japan (Kumata 1982a: 34) is doubtful. The record on Salix cinerea L. from United Kingdom, BOLD sequence code CLV1110, COI number HM902822, GenBank accession number KP871586 (Gutzwilller et al. 2015: suppl. table S1) is doubtful.
